Although Paweł Deląg experienced a crisis after his role in the screen version of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s novel, completely new possibilities opened up for him. He successfully starred in films by French filmmakers and developed his career also in the East. Today, there are many more excellent titles in the actor’s filmography.

Initially, he planned to connect his professional career with sport. First, he graduated from the Academy of Physical Education in Krakow, and then law at the Jagiellonian University. However, his passion for the theater made him take the exams at PWS. He received the dream index, and in 1993 he became a certified actor.

In the same year, he made his debut on the stage of the Warsaw’s Powszechny Theater with the role of the robber Łamaga in the play “Na Szsze painted” directed by Krystyna Janda. Soon after, he also got his first screen opportunity. In Steven Spielberg’s war drama “Schindler’s List” he played a cameo, Dolek Horowitz. His career gained momentum when two years later he appeared in Jarosław Żamojda. Later, more offers poured in, which only strengthened his position in the industry, including by Andrzej Żuławski or the cult comedy by Olaf Lubaszenko.

The real breakthrough was to be one of the main roles in the film adaptation of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s novel. In “Quo Vadis”, directed by Jerzy Kawalerowicz, he created the character of Marek Vinicius, and the audience went crazy for him. Although production opened the door to a career abroad for him, he was pigeonholed in the domestic industry and was experiencing a crisis. – I paid a really big price – he recalled in an interview for , admitting that then, like others who of this generation, he “went out of circulation”. The proposals that came from abroad turned out to be salvation.

The French audience loved Deląg. However, it was in Russia that he gained the status of a real star

First there was France. After the role in the film “Les Femmes d’abord”, he almost immediately received an invitation to eight castings for the production of great artists. He received each of the roles, including the main one in “We hated each other so much”, starring alongside Sara Biasini. Then, unexpectedly, it was time for Russia, although as he admits, it was “the last country he wanted to go to”. His first role was the character of a German in the Belarusian film “June 1941”. He starred alongside Sergei Bezrukov, and the reviewers couldn’t help but admire him. — In Poland I was mainly a lover, and in France I played mainly intellectuals, mainly journalists and historical figures. In Russia, however, I became a guy who can play extremely diverse roles – said the actor, admitting that it was this versatility of possibilities that intrigued him the most. Playing alongside outstanding Russian artists, he improved his craft and acquired new skills.

Today, he has more than 60 productions produced in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. He also plays successfully with Czech and Slovak directors. He also does not complain about working in Poland. Since 2018, he has been appearing in the series, and viewers can remember his character from “M jak miłość”. He has been involved in production for over 3 years. In 2020, he took part in the TVN program “America Express”. In the meantime, he directed and produced several films, including Born for the Saber, which he co-created with his son, and Coffee with Cardamom. On April 29, 2023, he celebrated his 53rd birthday.
