Corriere dello Sport: Juventus could be deducted 12 points in fraud case
It became known about the new punishment in the case of financial fraud in the Juventus football club. It is reported by Corriere dello Sport.
On Monday, May 22, the fifth court session will take place, during which, according to the publication, the prosecutor of the Italian Football Federation may demand to remove from the club from 9 to 12 points. In this case, the team will drop to eighth place in the Italian championship standings and lose the chance of playing in European competition in the 2023/2024 season.
The first trial against the “old lady” took place in January 2023. The team was deprived of 15 points in the Italian championship, but three months later Juventus managed to challenge the decision.
In November 2022, President Andrea Agnelli and most of the Juventus leadership resigned. At the same time, they were accused of overestimating the transfer cost of the players, as well as understating the cost of employees and hiding the true size of the salaries of the players.
