It was said that he made Poland famous, and his song “Poland” should be our new anthem. The 25-year-old rapper has been active on the international scene for almost seven years, but only last fall many people in our country heard about him. When he suddenly released a piece lasting less than a minute and a half, in which he talks about the fact that he is transporting syrup to Poland, the whole world went crazy about it. The song became a trend on TikTok, thanks to which millions of users started recording videos using the song.
Lil Yachty will bring syrup to Poland in July
The popularity and talent of the artist were noticed by the organizers of the Open’er Festival, who decided to invite the rapper to Poland. “Lil Yachty is coming to Poland! Open’er 2023 welcomes one of the most unobvious artists of recent years, who moves with the same ease in modern hip-hop and records this year’s great album, filled with psychedelic rock, landing in the top of the sales in USA, Gdynia, July 1, Orange Main Stage and the artist’s first concert in Poland! Let’s start here!” – we read in the message.
The song itself is very simple and shows only a fraction of the talent and visionary that Lil Yachty possesses. Due to the fact that it is short and has a catchy chorus, it quickly caught the attention of Internet users. The sentence we hear in the chorus can be translated into “I brought syrup to Poland”, which seems to be completely taken out of context, making the song memorable.
The name of this syrup (“wock” – English) is an abbreviation of the name of the pharmaceutical company Wockhardt, which in the United States is famous for the production of cough syrup containing promethazine and codeine. Overseas, this product has become the basic ingredient of addictive drinks.
Anne Marie will also come to Poland
On May 19, the organizers of Open’er also announced the performance of another international star. On June 29, the British singer Anne Marie, who has many radio hits, will perform at the Gdynia-Kosakowo airport. Although she released her first single in 2015, she became famous only a year later, when she sang together with Sean Paul in the song “Rockabye” by Clean Bandit.
Since then, the artist’s career has skyrocketed, and so far she has released two studio albums. The third album “Unholy” will be released at the end of June, one day before the concert at Open’er. It is promoted by the single “Baby Don’t Hurt Me”, which was created in collaboration with David Guetta and rapper Coi Leray. The song was created on the basis of samples from the great Eurodance hit of the 90s “What Is Love” by Haddaway.
