Dahlias: when to plant? The best time is approaching

Dahlias will not survive the winter in the ground, so during this time they must be dug up or taken out of the pot in which they were located. Flowers must wait out the frost in a dry and dark place, e.g. in a basement. can be planted again in the garden. It is best to do this after May 15, when the risk of spring frosts has passed. They could damage the growing young shoots. Georginas should be planted in warm, sunny places and sheltered from strong winds that could break them. The most suitable soil for dahlias should be well-drained and have a pH of 7.0 – 7.2.

How to plant dahlias? You must remember this

Before you plant dahlias, be sure to check their condition after winter. If mold or rot appears on them, cut out the affected part. Apply a fungicide to the cut off of rotten parts of the plant. Has the disease taken over? Unfortunately, in this case, the only thing left to do is throw it away. The holes in which you plant dahlias should be max. 7 cm. Cover the tubers with a layer of earth, knead and water. The first buds will appear after 14 days. Cut off faded flowers regularly. This will stimulate the plant to grow and make it flourish.
