Mr Blobby is a giant pink creature covered with yellow polka dots, well known to British viewers. He wears a distinctive yellow bow tie and the only word he speaks is “blobby” – his voice is electronically altered, he acts childish and is extremely irritating. The comic character first appeared on television in 1992 and was intended to get on the nerves of the guests of “Noel’s House Party”.
“I have a talent”. Simon Cowell fell victim to a perfidious joke on stage
Mr Blobby quickly rose to prominence and began making guest appearances on other BBC television programmes. He recorded a Christmas song and has, among others, episode in the comedy series What People Will Say. In one of the episodes, he visits Jacinta Bouquet’s house and demolishes her kitchen. The character has been featured in successive productions for years and has just launched in the British .
Mr Blobby presented a show of magic tricks to the “Got Talent” judges and each of them went horribly wrong. This time, however, its vocabulary was expanded and the pink creature spoke basic sentences so it was clear what it was going to do. So at first he couldn’t guess which card one of the judges, Amanda Holden, had drawn from the deck, then nothing fell out of his hat, but Blobby pressed the red button himself. Simon Cowell watched all this with sad resignation, but did not refuse when asked to go on stage.
There, Mr. Blobby showed him a special chest – traditionally during such shows, the magician makes the person who enters theoretically disappear. Cowell asked Blobby if he would come in after all, but the offer was refused. Simon humbly sat down on the chair, the lid closed, and the tension only increased. The first time it turned out that Cowell did not disappear, the second attempt was also unsuccessful. The third time, pink goo spilled over the fussy juror.
Cowell remained stoically calm while everyone in the studio alternated between shocked and giggled. Simon just told Blobby not to touch him and went back to his seat to press the red button. He also did it on behalf of a friend sitting next to him. Mr Blobby got four red crosses. The audience booed Simon Cowell, and the judges and hosts started chasing each other around the studio. Cowell smudged the others with pink goo with gleeful satisfaction.
