Discounts for seniors. Pensioner ID 2023 and National Senior Card
The pensioner’s card allows, among other things, for discounts on public transport. It also entitles you to discounts in many institutions or companies, but also in pharmacies or during cultural events. who are over 60 may apply for the National Senior Citizen Card issued by The card entitles to discounts at points cooperating with the association, including sanatoriums, health resorts and cultural institutions. It is necessary to pay a fee:
- PLN 35 – card valid for one year,
- PLN 50 – card valid for two years.
Senior ticket. Cheaper train travel for people over 60
PKP Intercity introduced the Senior Ticket some time ago. Anyone over 60 can take advantage of the discount and buy tickets with a 30 percent discount. The offer is valid on all Intercity trains, including Pendolino and TLK trains. People over 60 can buy tickets cheaper both in the first and second class, as well as by buying season tickets.
Discounts also apply to offers of local carriers. Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa offers people over 60 a discount of 50 percent, Koleje Dolnośląskie and Koleje Wielkopolskie 25 percent, while Koleje Mazowieckie allows you to buy a single ticket with a discount of 35 percent. POLREGIO trains offer a 25 percent discount on single tickets and 10 percent on season tickets. It is worth checking the applicable discounts on the carrier’s website.
In addition, each pensioner has the right to two journeys per year on a train of any carrier with a 37 percent discount. However, the discount applies only to the second class. A certificate issued by an appropriate institution, e.g. a trade union, is required.
Exemption from the RTV subscription. It is available to people over 60, under one condition
Seniors over 60 who receive a monthly benefit not exceeding half of the average salary in the national economy in the previous year are exempt from the radio and television subscription. IN From 2023, the exemption from the RTV subscription applies to persons whose monthly pension does not exceed PLN 3,173.08 gross. Persons who are 75 years of age or older, have the 1st disability group or are veterans who are war or military invalids are also exempt from paying the subscription fee.
