If you are wondering how, remember a few rules and you will grow healthy and sweet fruits. We plant strawberries in early spring – between March and May, until the first days of September. We plant them in rows about half a meter apart, and we place the plants next to each other at a distance of 20 to 30 cm. To limit the development of weeds between the rows, it is worth mulching, i.e. using straw, black foil or agrotextile. The holes in which the strawberries are placed should be deep enough so that the roots are not curled up. Let us also remember that the bud, i.e. the so-called heart, it should be above the surface of the earth.

When you have little space in the garden, you can grow in a barrel. This is an increasingly popular way to grow this fruit, thanks to which we can plant about 20 seedlings in a 120-liter barrel. How to plant strawberries in a barrel?

  1. In the barrel, drill holes with a diameter of 5 cm spaced every 20-30 cm.
  2. Place stones on the bottom of the barrel for drainage. Then insert a plastic pipe into the barrel with pre-drilled holes to irrigate our fruit.
  3. Line the inside of the barrel with agrotextile and pour some of the soil mixed with compost.
  4. Gradually place the seedlings in the ground.
