In a match valid for the 27th round of the Spanish ChampionshipValencia received Rayo Vallecano at the Mestalla Stadium and drew 1-1. Comesana scored for the visitors, while Kluivert left everything the same on Monday.
With the result, Valencia managed a brief respite in the competition table. The club, which was in second place, rose to 17th place and left the relegation zone. With 27 points, the team will try to stay away from the relegation against Almería on Sunday (9).
Rayo Vallecano, on the other hand, remained in eighth position in Spanish. The team from the greater Madrid region dreams of a place in European competitions and will visit Atlético de Madrid on Sunday with that goal in mind.
The game
Even playing away from home, Rayo needed only nine minutes to open the scoring. Álvaro García crossed in the area and it landed at the foot of Comesana, who spun and hit with a left. Goalkeeper Mamardashvili even touched the ball, but his deflection was not enough to prevent it from dying in the back of the net.
Valencia’s best chance of the first half came in the 25th minute, when Gaya made a pass at the second post and Kluivert appeared from behind the defense to send the ball over the post.
In the second stage, the home team began to impose themselves more and put pressure on Rayo. Kluivert had a great opportunity at 25, but was stopped by goalkeeper Dimitrievski.
In the following minutes, Valencia had two bids in which the players asked for a penalty. At 31, Diakhaby fell in the area, but the referee ordered the game to continue. However, at 35, VAR came into action and scored a touch on Balliu’s hand. Kluivert called the responsibility and crashed with style, in the opposite corner of Dimitrievski to tie the game.
