Mika Urbaniak is a singer, privately the daughter of Urszula Dudziak and Michał Urbaniak. This year, the artist, in cooperation with the journalist Magdalena Adaszewska, published an autobiographical book entitled “It will be better. Mika Urbaniak is honest about addiction, illness and love”, in which she opened up about difficult experiences from the past. Urbaniak does not hide that she had problems with alcohol in the past and also suffered from mental disorders. In one of the last interviews, she recalled the event, which turned out to be a breakthrough for her. As she revealed, those experiences finally opened her eyes.
“I felt like a better version of myself”
Mika Urabniak started having problems with alcohol at a young age. She had her first drink when she was 14. At the time, it seemed to her that this was the best way to drown out unwanted emotions. She drank for nine years. – The first time I was under the influence of alcohol, I felt like a better version of myself: feisty, prettier, outspoken, braver. In an instant, I became who I wanted to be in my imagination, but my shyness prevented me from making my dreams come true. I was only fourteen, that is, I was a child, and I did not realize what the consequences would be for me in a while – she confessed in an interview with “Wprost”.
“I don’t remember anything from that night”
The events of a certain party made her realize how difficult her situation was. Mika was 23 at the time. In an interview with “Vogue” magazine, she revealed that she had lost the film and was found injured outside the hospital. She had a blood alcohol level of 5.1 at the time. – One day at a party I drank so much that I blacked out the movie. I don’t know what happened to me then, I don’t remember anything from that night. I was found near the hospital – to this day I do not know who brought me there. I had nothing with me, not even clothes. I was covered in bruises, I had wounds on my body, a lump on my head, and so much alcohol in my blood that I shouldn’t be alive. In fact, I was forced to take treatment. When I was in the hospital, my mother gave me an ultimatum – either I go to rehab or I move out of her house – said Urbaniak in an interview with “Vogue”. The artist confessed that after leaving the hospital she went to rehab and later began attending AA meetings.
