Plastic button on seat belts in a car. What does it do?

Seat belts are standard today. However, this was not always the case. The obligation to fasten them was introduced only in 1991. Their design has changed slightly in recent years. One of them is a small plastic button. Most often we find it at the buckle. When we fasten the belts, the tab is most often located in the abdomen and thighs.

What does it do? Well, its function is quite important. The clip is an element that significantly affects the comfort of using the belts. It prevents the buckle from falling along the webbing, so it is always in the same place. Were it not for the plastic button, we would have to look for a fastener at the height of the armchair or even under it. Speeding up the process of fastening seat belts is to encourage drivers to take care of their safety while traveling. If they had to spend more time on it, definitely more people would decide to drive without them. However, this is not the only form of “encouragement” to fasten seatbelts.

A fine for not wearing a seatbelt. The penalties are extremely harsh

The National Road Safety Council reports on the importance of wearing seatbelts while driving. According to their statistics, the chances of dying in an accident for passengers and drivers who do not choose this protection increase by 45%. For this reason, police officers do not spare penalties for not wearing seatbelts. How much are they for this offence?

  • PLN 100 and 5 penalty points for not using the seat belt while driving,
  • PLN 100 and 5 or 8 penalty points for driving a vehicle carrying passengers who have not fastened their seat belts,
  • PLN 300 and 10 penalty points for transporting a child in a vehicle in a place other than safety seats.
