The secrecy of confession consists in not revealing anything that the confessor learned during the sacrament. Violation may result in various penalties, including: excommunication. However, not all clergy take the matter so seriously. This is recalled by the story from Jaworzno, which has recently been publicized in the national media.

According to “Super Express”, in the sacristy of one of the churches in Jaworzno there was, among others, hidden camera. And it was in this room that some of the faithful confessed – for example, the hearing impaired. However, according to the accounts of the priests, it was not the only group that joined the sacrament in this place.

Priest recording parishioners during confession?

There are surveillance cameras in the temple, which is indicated by plates on the doors. However, many people confessing in the sacristy may not have been aware that the camera was also installed in this room.

The police are already investigating the case

Clergy are outraged that the sacrament could be recorded. Importantly, according to church law, recording confessions is a crime. The vicars suspect that the camera could have been installed by the parish priest. They first informed the curia and the police about their suspicions. Therefore, it was suspected that it might be an attempt to remove the superior from his position.

How did the priests come up with this trail in the first place? One of them acquired a sensor for detecting wiretaps. When he used it in the sacristy, he noticed a glowing dot. – It has been suggested to us by the sexton that there may be a device here. This suggestion appeared completely by accident – ​​the vicar revealed anonymously.

The police are currently investigating the case. The pastor of the parish in which confessors may have been recorded has not yet commented on the matter.
