Five children and a woman were hospitalized due to gas poisoning after a leak in an apartment building in the Volzhsky Volgograd region, RIA Novosti reports citing the regional health committee.
The mayor’s office of Volzhsky said that the night before, the residents of a five-story building on Luganskaya Street felt a sharp smell of gas. Emergency services arrived at the scene and evacuated people. After the check, the residents were able to return to their apartments, but five children and a woman were hospitalized with symptoms of gas poisoning in the toxicology department.
The health committee clarified that the woman born in 1993 is in a relatively satisfactory condition, the children born in 2006, 2009, 2010, 2014 are in a state of moderate severity.
The prosecutor’s office of the Volgograd region reported that no gas leak was found, the preliminary reason for the incident was “violation of the technological cycle when using individual gas equipment.” The supervisory authority is checking.
