Oscars 2023. When will the ceremony take place and where to watch the broadcast?

The 95th Oscars ceremony will take place on the night of March 12/13. Participants of the gala will gather at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, and the event will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. The event will start at 8 p.m. local time and will be broadcast by the American ABC station. The message will be available in 200 countries around the world, including Poland. On Gazeta.pl we will run a live report.

2023 will start at 2am Polish time on the night of Sunday, March 12 to Monday, March 13. The organizers have already announced that this time viewers will be able to follow the awards ceremony in all 23 categories – in previous years, attempts were made to shorten the broadcast and hand out some of the awards during commercial breaks. Ultimately, it was decided that such a solution is inelegant and unfair to the creators who will be omitted in this way.

Oscars 2023. When and where to watch?

The Oscars ceremony usually lasts until about 5 am, and we will report the whole thing live on the main page of Gazeta.pl. In addition, the 95th Oscars gala will be available on television in real time on Canal+, as well as online on the CANAL+ Online platform. A summary of the entire ceremony will also be prepared, which is to include the most interesting moments of the gala.

Although the start of the Oscars is scheduled for 2 am, traditionally the first stars and participants of the event will appear on the red carpet two hours before the official start of the event. The host of the evening was the journalist Jimmy Kimmel, who will host the Oscar gala for the third time.

“Inviting to host the Oscars for the third time is a great honor or a trap. Either way, I am grateful to the Academy for putting me on again. I will try not to disappoint,” laughs the presenter himself, who also hosted the gala during which one of the biggest bloopers in Oscar history. That night, it was mistakenly announced that “La La Land” had won the “Best Picture” category, when in fact the winner was “Moonlight.” Will there be a similar mess this time?

Oscars 2023. Nominations and favorites

The 95th Oscars gala has a strong Polish accent, with “IO” directed by Jerzy Skolimowski competing for the statuette for the best foreign film. Last May, Skolimowski’s film was awarded at the 75th Cannes International Film Festival. Now he will face from “No Change in the West” from Germany, which was also nominated in the “Best Film of the Year” category.

Nevertheless, the favorite of the evening is theoretically a niche film “Everywhere at once” by the Daniels duo, which garnered 11 nominations in the following categories: best film, director, best actress in a leading role, best supporting actor, two nominations for best supporting actress, best screenplay in a leading role, costumes, editing, music, song and visual effects. Considering that the production mows down statuettes at all other industry galas, it’s hard to expect that the creators would leave empty-handed that evening.

Who else is statistically most likely to win? Martin McDonagh’s “Ghosts of Inisherin” and the already mentioned “Same in the West” have nine nominations each. The biopic “Elvis,” starring Austin Butler, has eight nominations.
