The Marlango duo, formed by Leonor Watling and Alejandro Pelayo, has announced that retires “for a while” from the stage and has canceled the concert that was scheduled to offer in Mexico City on March 23.
“We’re going to leave the stage for a while, We are going to look for the shore and when we arrive we will let you know“, says the group in a message broadcast through their social networks. “We are sorry for the inconvenience that we may cause to people who bought tickets for El Lunario“, they add, alluding to the Mexican venue where they planned to play in 20 days.
The promoters have indicated that they will return the amount of the tickets at the point of sale and in accordance with the current policy at Ticketmaster México. “Sometimes (although scary) it is better to stop, breathe and start over,” singer and actress Leonor Watling said on Twitter. “We are fine and looking forward to having new songs to sing to you, but until we find them we are going to stop, think and listen; I hope with all my heart that you can wait for us.”
With a trajectory of more than fifteen years, Marlango has edited six albums studio since they debuted in 2004, being then a trio, of which Óscar Ybarra was also a partwith an album that combined influences from pop and rock to jazz and cabaret.
They managed to be a gold record, a milestone they repeated with their second album, “Automatic imperfection”. In 2007 “The electrical morning” was released and in 2010 “Life in the treehouse”, with the collaborations of Rufus Wainwright and Jorge Drexler.
The fifth album, in 2012, was the first in Spanish, “An extraordinary day” and in 2014 “El Porvenir” arrivedwith which they celebrated ten years of their career, now without the participation of Ybarra and with collaborations from Enrique Bunbury or Fito Páez.
Their last single was released in July of last year, a song titled “If you ask around”produced by Guille Galván (Vetusta Morla) and with lyrics by Ray Loriga, which was announced as a preview of an upcoming album for this spring.
