Notes and lyrics in 70 concerts, in Musika-Música

The Bilbao classical music festival, Musika-Musicwill host more than 70 concerts in three days in different spaces of the Euskalduna Palace and the Arriaga Theatre, during its 22nd edition to be held between March 3 and 5.
For the first time, the festival will receive international ensembles such as the Vienna Boys’ Choir, the Budapest and Israel Chamber Orchestras and the Ensemble Masques. It will also be the first time that Les Percussions de Strasbourg will visit it, which will offer the show ‘100 Cymbals’.
Under the title “Notak & Letrak”, the program will explore, according to its organization, “the dialogue between composers and writers of different eras and artistic styles”.
In total, 1,400 musicians will participate in the festival, with performances of about 45 minutes each of chamber music and symphony concerts by the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, Euskadiko Orkestra, the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, the Bilbao Choral Society , the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra and the Granada Symphony Orchestra.
Opera “The Telephone”
This year, the festival has programmed the first opera in its two decades of history, “El telefónico”, a comic piece in a single act adapted by the playwright and director María Goiricelaya (the original is “The telephone, or L’amour a trois “, by Gian Carlo Menotti, premiered in 1947) that deals with addiction to mobile phones and with which they want to bring young audiences closer to the operatic genre.
Tickets, at a price of 8 euros, are already sold out for the premiere on Friday, March 3, at the Euskalduna Palace, although they are available for the performances on Saturday and Sunday.
