Aleksander Fogiel was born on February 24, 1910. The star came from a family that had been associated with the railway for generations. The man graduated from the Railway Technical School, but he has always been interested in art. For a long time he was a stage designer at the Polish Army Theatre, where he then made his stage debut. Interestingly, the beginner was the cousin of the well-known vocalist Mieczysław Fogg.
After a short time, however, he decided to return to his hometown of Siedlce. During the war, he combined the functions of an actor, set designer and director in the theater with work on the railway. Then he got jobs in theaters in other cities. These were e.g. Wrocław, Częstochowa, Szczecin or Łódź. The man also played in several films. However, the role of Maćko z Bogdaniec in the film adaptation of “” directed by Aleksander Ford brought him real fame. In his career, Fogiel played in over 100 in total. Viewers were able to admire his talent m.in. in such productions as “Sami Swoi”, “How I Unleashed the Second World War”, or “Nights and Days”.
He combined a great career with a great secret. For years he led a double life
Privately, Aleksander Fogiel became involved with Celina Dąbrowska. The couple had two sons, Andrzej (born 1941) and Waldemar (born 1943). The descendants of the artist were also interested in art. The elder became an actor and singer, while the younger was a choreographer and stage movement director in drama theatres.
As it turned out, Aleksander Fogiel led a double life for years. began a passionate affair with the dancer Lucyna Łakomówna. The couple also had a son, Tomasz (born in 1953). Fogel’s relationship with the second woman remained a mystery even after the death of the man’s first wife in 1985. The truth came to light only a few months before the death of the actor. At the end of 1995, Aleksander Fogiel married a dancer. He died on January 17, 1996. It is worth mentioning that the actor’s grandson also followed in his footsteps. As a young boy, Krzysztof Fogiel played in the series “Czterdziestolatek. Twenty Years Later” and “Radio Romans”.
