When some have not overcome the hangover of the Goyaarrive the prizes of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (the BAFTA 2023). Those in which it is expected that, finally, Ana de Armas be done with some award. The Spanish-Cuban actress shares the ‘Best Actress’ category with Viola Davis (‘The King Woman’), Danielle Deadwyler (‘Till’), Emma Thompson (‘Good Luck Big Leo’), Michelle Yeoh (‘Everything at Once Everywhere’) and cate blanchett (‘TÁR’). Blanchett was the one who overtook him and took the Golden Globe one month ago.
Another of the proper names of these BAFTAs is that of Guillermo del Toro. His stop-motion version of the classic ‘Pinocchio’ opts for the award for best animated film with the hope of repeating the recognition that the Golden Globes gala gave it. The winner of the best international film wants the same. ‘Argentina, 1985’ by Santiago Miter and starring Ricardo Darín will compete for the BAFTA for the best international title with the Austrian ‘The Rebel Empress’ by Marie Kreutzer, the South Korean ‘Decision To Leave’ by Park Chan-wook, the Irish ‘The Quiet Girl’ by Colm Bairéad and with the German ‘All Quiet on the Front’ by Edward Berger.
The BAFTA favourites: where you can see them
Precisely ‘No news at the front’ is the great favorite of this edition of the awards of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. The moving story of the First World War leads the nominations at the 76th BAFTA British Film Awards with a total of 12. The film bears the same title as Erich Maria Remarque’s novel. In it he recounts the experience of young Paul (Felix Kammerer) on the Western front in World War I. ‘All Quiet on the Front’ can be seen on Netflix since last October.
It also sounds strong at the British gala (but with two fewer nominations)’Banshees by Inisherin‘, which can be seen in theaters. The one that was the title with More Golden Globes nominations tells the story of the end of a friendship between two citizens of the west of Ireland.
‘Everything at once everywhere‘ shares number of nominations with Irish history. But it has nothing to do since it tells the story of a working woman from within the metaverse. From there the protagonist michelle yeoh, she will be forced to save the world, when at first she cannot even pay her taxes. This science fiction is available on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Filmin, Microsoft Store and Google Play.
