World Athletics: the admission of Russians will be discussed only after doping problems are resolved
World Athletics President Sebastian Coe spoke about the conditions for the return of Russian athletes to international tournaments. His words are quoted by Reuters.
Coe explained that doping remains a priority for working with the Russians. He noted that the discussion of the possibility of admitting Russians to competitions in a neutral status will begin only after Russian athletics solves doping problems.
In November, World Athletics extended the decision taken in March to remove Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions. It will remain in effect until further notice.
In 2015, the activity of the All-Russian Federation of Athletics (ARAF) was suspended due to systematic violations of anti-doping rules by Russians. Domestic athletes could compete in international competitions only after receiving individual permits and in a neutral status.
