It turns out that some decisions of parents are not accepted by employees of Polish registry offices, who may refuse to give them a specific name. This was experienced by a couple who chose a traditional name of Armenian origin for their daughter.

Karolina Karapetyan told in one of the recordings about the situation that happened to freshly baked parents in one of the Polish registry offices. The woman’s M is Armenian, and the couple chose to name their baby girl Armine. It didn’t even occur to them for a moment that the choice might be a problem. – The lady said that we cannot give such a name because it sounds too masculine and all women’s names should end with the letter “a”, which is very incomprehensible to me, because even the name Inez does not end with “a”, Karapetyan said in the recording. The woman’s husband explained to the clerk that the name they had chosen is of Armenian origin and is traditional, to which the woman was to ask why, living in Poland, they did not want to give the child a Polish name.
“I really don’t understand why people like this sit in places where they should be more educated and more open,” the tiktoker said. After a long conversation and numerous explanations of the couple, the clerk finally agreed to the name Armine.

Internet users in numerous comments under the recording expressed their surprise at the official’s approach to choosing a name for the tiktoker daughter. They also shared the problems they had encountered in the registry offices.

has prepared special recommendations for registry offices regarding naming children of persons of Polish citizenship and nationality.
