Despite calls for a boycott of the game due to controversial statements by JK Rowling, the author of the “Harry Potter” series, “Hogwarts Legacy” is popular among players. All because of the numerous references to both book prototypes and films from the universe. However, there are some issues that have been criticized. It’s not just about unsatisfactory graphics.

Are these two different spells?
The players drew attention to the differences in the naming of the famous spell, the pronunciation of which was taught by Ron Hermione in the first part of the series. We are talking about Wingardium Leviosa, known as Levioso at the beginning of the game. It turns out, however, that these are two different formulas, although their operation is relatively similar. Levioso causes selected objects to levitate, but does not allow them to be controlled. Wingardium Leviosa, in turn, is a buff to this spell, allowing you to move objects that you lift. The basic form can be taught to our wizard during one of the first missions – “Professor Garlick’s Task 1”, which requires the use of Levioso.
Not only the spaces of Hogwarts
In “Hogwarts Legacy” there are also many less obvious references to the universe, serving as flavors and not significantly affecting the course of the game. So discovering them brings a lot of satisfaction to the fans. They mention, among other things, talking mirrors commenting on the appearance of the characters passing by, the possibility of buying candies known from “Prisoner of Azkaban”, which, when eaten, make the sounds characteristic of animals, the creation of Polyjuice Potion in the toilet, or the discovery that the Giant Squid, immortalized on a mosaic loves to eat… toast.

Although the plot is set in the 19th century, long before the events of the books, some elements refer to later events. Players attending Herbology classes will hear Leander Prewett, Molly Weasley’s ancestor, talk about getting rid of the gnomes in the backyard – which is exactly what Harry will help the Wesleys years later. The game also allows visiting the Hufflepuff common room – the only one where Harry wasn’t in the movies.
Why can’t Janusz study at Hogwarts?
One of the popular curiosities related to the game can only be found in Poland. Players discovered that while the character creator allows you to give the wizard any name, it imposes restrictions that do not allow you to name the hero Janusz. A special filter that blocks ideas that could be considered offensive is to blame for everything. In the case of the name “Janusz”, the particle “anus”, which means “anus”, was found in it. Therefore, it cannot be validated by the algorithm.
“Hogwarts Legacy”, available in Poland as “Hogwarts Legacy”, was released on February 10, 2023. The game was developed by Avalanche Studio and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment under the banner of Portkey Games. It can be played by users of Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox X/S series. On April 4 this year, it will also be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on Nintendo Switch – July 25.
