The Valentine’s season means the one with the highest demand in the cargo terminal of the Mariscal Sucre International Airport, located in Tababela, in the northeast of Quito. In this period, which lasted 23 days, 22,568 metric tons of flowers were exported. This means a new record for the airport, since in 2022 20,112 tons left.

From January 18 to February 9, the operators worked long hours. Time was valuable, as truckloads arrived in high demand at the terminal. In total, 460 cargo flights with flowers took off from the runway of this airport. This also became a record, compared to 417 in 2022.
From Quiport, the company in charge of airport operations, they reported that fifteen different airlines operate in Mariscal Sucre, between regular and charter flights, this during the high season.
The main destinations that receive flowers from Ecuador are the United States, Canada, Western Europe, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and other countries in America.
