A broken heart can sometimes lead to irrational decisions. An extreme example is the story from Singapore. The president of one of the local drone companies decided to bring two lawsuits. The reason is heartbreak and rejection by the woman with whom the man made plans.

Nora Tan and K. Kawshigan met in 2016. For years, their relationship was purely friendly. However, at some point, the man began to make plans for a common future and more and more openly emphasized the desire to create with her. For the defendant woman, he was just a friend, so when she discovered his true intentions in 2020, she decided to limit their relationship. This upset Kawshigan.

Initially, Nora tried to convince the man that his behavior caused her discomfort and that she needed to impose some restrictions on their relationship. Kawshigan did not change his behavior, so the woman decided to start a harassment case. However, they made a settlement, but in the summer of 2022 Nora Tan decided to break off the relationship once again. She sent Kawshigan a list of “improvements” she expected from him. The man used her as evidence that she had broken the contract.

The man filed two lawsuits against Nora Tan. The first involved breaking a contract that was supposed to improve their relationship. In the lawsuit, he demanded compensation in the amount of 22,000 Singapore dollars, or about PLN 72,000. In the second, he claimed that the woman destroyed his “stellar reputation”, caused him trauma and depression. Having to attend therapy due to emotional trauma, he was about to lose his ability to earn a living. As compensation, he demanded 3 million Singapore dollars, or PLN 9.8 million.

On January 28, 2023, the first of the lawsuits regarding the alleged breach of contract, arguing that these are baseless claims. According to the court, the man was supposed to use the justice system to harass the defendant. “The court will not be involved in a calculated attempt to extort commitment from a defendant who, years later, chose to defy threats rather than submit to demands,” Deputy Clerk of the Court, Lewis Tan. The court ordered Kawshigan to pay the woman S$14,000.

The first pre-trial hearing in the millionth lawsuit is scheduled for February 9. Nora Tan, in response to the man’s lawsuits, filed for a protection order against the man.
