Colin Firth and Meryl Streep previously had the opportunity to work together on the set of the famous musical “Mamma Mia” from 2008. In that film, they played a pair of ex-lovers, but there were no kissing scenes in the production. The actors were clearly friends, so the awards committee was very kind to ask Firth to read out the name of the winner of the Best Actress Award.
When Streep heard that she was taking the award home, her face was both clearly relieved and triumphant. After all, as an American, she was appreciated for how she played Britain’s most famous prime minister. In her excitement, however, she lost her slipper on the steps leading to the stage.
