In her column for “Wysokie Obcasy”, Dortoa Szelągowska explained why she left the Church. – I just hate being a hypocrite. By declaring belonging to an organization that has clearly defined rules, we agree to them. Dot. I don’t agree, so I don’t belong. You can’t be a little bit pregnant. I respect other people’s beliefs and views. I respect mine, too.
Szelągowska about the annulment of the marriage
The presenter also revealed how the marriage annulment process looked like. In 2013, she became the wife of Adam Sztaba. However, the union broke up after three years.
The whole process took two years, no one bribed anyone, priests pored over files on the intimate details of our lives, witnesses were questioned, and church lawyers were paid well. And I felt disgusted. So decent. And I had the feeling that it had nothing to do with what I knew about faith and the sacraments. And then it turned out that you’re out of the question if you’re not going to get married again, and you’re not going to be chaste either. And what does “clean” mean anyway? After that, the questions were already snowballing and I realized that my answers and those of the Church were on two poles

Szelągowska on faith and the Church
Szelągowska has been active in social media for years. Currently, her profile is followed by nearly 900,000 people. Recently, the presenter organized a Q&A session on Instagram. One fan asked her about her faith. – Is faith important to you? – he wrote. – Faith Hope and Love. But it is definitely not the Catholic faith – replied Szelągowska.
The star decided to talk a little more about it. She revealed, among other things, what are the reasons for her reluctance to the Catholic Church.
Not because of scandals in the Church, pedophilia, individual priests or the link between the Church and the state. I just don’t agree with many of the tenets of Catholicism – they’re not things you can argue with. The Catholic Church, like any other, is primarily a set of rules that apply to its followers. Here we have, among others: the ban on contraception, in vitro, Chinese medicine, acupuncture, yoga, same-sex relationships and the attitude to the Russian-Ukrainian war expressed several times by the head of the Church
she explained.
