Apple Computer Company was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. The first device from this company cost $666.66. When Wayne left the company in 1977, it changed its name to what the world knows today.

The second computer from Apple was presented in 1977 at a trade show on the east coast. It was distinguished by a desktop platform designed to attract business customers. Computers with the apple logo were aimed at more demanding customers. However, the high price made the first personal Lisa a sales flop.

The successor to the Lisa was the Macintosh. The company decided to present the product on television. An ad aired that was shot by Ridley Scott. The device was launched in 1984. It was the first mass-market computer. Despite its shortcomings, the Macintosh achieved very good sales results. The company was doing well and invested in new projects, expanding its current offer. It introduced many innovations that were later adopted by other companies. In 1997, the Apple Store was established, and a year later the first iMac was shown.

iMac turned out to be a sales hit. Mac OS was launched in 2001. The first retail stores opened in Virginia and California. And most importantly, the iPod was also presented this year – a portable music device that turned out to be a breakthrough in the history of the company.

The success of the iPod meant that Jobs decided to expand the range of devices under the sign of apple. In 2007, he announced the creation of the iPhone. It was a hit. By the fall of 2008, Apple was the third largest supplier in the world.

In 2009, Steve Jobs was diagnosed with cancer. He went on a six-month vacation. He did not want his illness to have a negative impact on the functioning of the company. In 2010, the iPad sold 300,000 units on its first day of release. This was the moment Apple surpassed Microsoft’s market capitalization. In 2011, for health reasons, Jobs resigned from his job and handed over the duties to Tim Cook. In August of the same year, Jobs remained president of the company, however, he resigned as CEO. He died two months later, marking a turning point in Apple’s history.

In 2011, there was a revolutionary change in Apple phones – Siri voice assistant. The first Macbook with Retina display was also launched, as well as the iMac, Mac Mini, and iPad mini. Since then, Apple has expanded its offerings, trying to reach every type of customer. The portfolio includes devices from the “pro” series intended for wealthier customers, as well as cheaper versions of products in slightly trimmed versions and changed parameters. In 2016, Apple announced that there are one billion active devices of the company worldwide.

Today, smartphones and computers from Apple are the leading devices on the market. Despite the high prices of devices, the company is still referred to as the strongest brand in the world.
