The first time these appeared mysterious clay faces it was four years ago. At that moment, the people of Cordoba were astonished to see that the wall of the Puerta de Almodóvar had some disturbing faces.
On that occasion, a search was started for find the author, whose identity is still unknown, because he could have committed a crime against property. Some time later, these peculiar faces were seen again next to the Alcázar, on a wall further away from the city. In both situations they were withdrawn.
Finally last year they resurfaced again on the Ribera del Guadalquivir, and on this occasion the City Council announced that it had no intention to withdraw for not affecting any patrimonial element.
Now, the author of these well-known clay faces has made his own again. On this occasion he has chosen to sculpt them on the façade of a private property. “It will be an artist who wants to make himself known,” confesses a neighbor.
Unlike the other times, this time they are only four white faces. “I am of the opinion of keeping them,” acknowledges another of the people who have seen how they have turned out. A statement with which another neighbor agrees. “They should be protected and encouraged.”
The truth is that, four years later, it remains unknown who could be behind its authorship. This time, being on private property, the City Council has no power, he says, to remove them.
