The exhibition ‘Landscapes. Instantes de los Andes de Luis A. Martínez’ will be open one more week at MuNa, in Quito

In the temporary rooms of the National Museum of Ecuador (MuNa) the exhibition is open Scenery. Moments of the Andes by Luis A. Martínez until the end of October.

The exhibition is made up of paintings, photographs, books and documents and has been visited since its inauguration, on July 30, by nearly 12,000 people. Initially it was scheduled to last until October 23.

During the time it has been open, seven specialized tours have been carried out and drawing and creative writing workshops have been carried out, the main theme being landscaping.

Scenery. Moments of the Andes by Luis A. Martínez it was produced between 1892 and 1909. “He was the only artist of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century who dedicated his work entirely to the representation of the landscapes of Ecuador, especially the Andes of the central Sierra,” according to a statement.

Living in the Sierra, Coast and Amazonia and having reached the top of mountains and volcanoes accompanied by his brothers were part of the experiences that were transferred to art. It is about “a combination between the personal, subjective brand and the empirical, scientific and objective effort”.

The sample was curated by Martín Jaramillo Serrano, jointly between the Ministry of Culture and Heritage and the MuNa.
