The Camerata Porteña will celebrate the centenary of Astor Piazzolla with a concert at the Sánchez Aguilar

Known as “the true heirs of Piazzolla”, the orchestra Camerata Porteña, from Argentina, arrives in Ecuador to offer -within his tour in the country- a concert at the Teatro Sánchez Aguilar (TSA) to celebrate the legacy of the well-known teacher Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992).

Well, precisely the show takes place in the year where the centenary of his birth is remembered. “Astor Piazzolla has been one of the most important musicians, composers and performers of the 20th century in music”, mentions Ramon Barranco, artistic director of the TSA.

The particularity of the Argentine orchestra is the contemporary touch that it gives to tango, since it is a great festival of sounds that come from the guitar, the saxophone, the violin, the viola, the cello, the double bass and the bandoneon; an authentic fusion implemented by Piazzolla himself, under the name of avant-garde tango, which combines chamber music with the music of Buenos Aires. “He was very influenced by jazz and the contemporary composition of the great composers. He was the first to put an electric guitar in a tango ensemble and that was a revolution “, tells Barranco.

It indicates that the visit of the musicians is thanks to the joint work between the Ministry of Culture, the Argentine Embassy, the House of Music of Quito and the TSA. “It is a very great satisfaction, the Camerata has been playing for 45 years, and it is also an exceptional cast (…) The singer Guillermo Ibáñez, known as la Voice of the tango ”, expresses Barranco.

The Camerata Porteña was founded in 1986 by Marcelo Rodriguez Scilla, who is in charge of the piano, the arrangements and the direction. The group was born at the request of maestro Piazzolla, to whom Rodríguez proposed the idea of continuing to play his music.

The solo musicians that make up the Camerata are professors of the National Symphony Orchestra of Argentina, and of the Stable Orchestra of the Colón Theater in Buenos Aires. This is how the guitar is Alexander Borgo, on the violin Fernando Herman and Claudio Becker, on the viola Claudio Melone, on the cello Mario kyrkiris, on the double bass Ángel Bonura, the bandoneon Jorge Rutman, and on the sax Nicolas Porley.

The concert, called Piazzolla 100 years, It is scheduled for Friday, November 12, at 8:00 p.m. on the Main Hall of the Sánchez Aguilar Theater. The entrance has a cost of $ 20, and it can be acquired through the web page www.teatrosanchezaguilar.org, the application of the theater or ticket office.
