He has been out of action for six years after he underwent botched back surgery in 2016. He suffered a stroke, which left the left side of his body paralyzed. After this incident, he underwent intensive rehabilitation.

The actor’s health did not improve and he was taken to the House of Veteran Artists of Polish Stages in Skolimów, where he was under constant care. It was handled by qualified specialists. Andrzej died yesterday around 20:40. His wife was holding his hand. His relatives and friends were also present. He died cared for, he received the last rites
Andrzej Szopa was also well known for his dubbing roles. He gave voice to Kreacher in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, Dori from “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”, or Mr. Gruber from “Paddington Bear”. He also voiced characters in computer games. He can be heard in such well-known titles as: “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” or “Ratchet & Clank: 4 for One”.
