M3GAN presents itself to the viewer as a marvel of artificial intelligence, a lifelike baby doll programmed to be a child’s best companion and parent’s best ally. The product was designed by Gemma (Allison Williams)), the brilliant robotics from a toy company, who made it possible for her creation could listen, watch and learn while becoming a friend and teacher, playmate and protector, to the child she is attached to.
When Gemma suddenly becomes the caregiver for her 8-year-old niece Cady (Violet McGraw), the scientist still doesn’t feel ready to be a full-time mother. So, under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with the Cady in an attempt to solve both problems, a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.
