Former Dutch coach Guus Hiddink appreciated the level of Russian football players. His words are reported by RB Sport.

Hiddink said that in Russia there was no generation of players more talented than the 2008 era. The ex-coach noted that they were very strong. “I do not think that in the near future the level of Russian football players will increase. In the conditions of the removal of teams from European competitions, this is impossible, ”the specialist added.

Hiddink led the Russian national team from 2006 to 2010. Under him, the Russians won bronze medals at the 2008 European Championship. Then the Russian football players led by the Dutchman beat the Netherlands national team in the 1/4 finals. In the semifinals, the Russian team lost to the future champions – the Spaniards.

On February 28, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team was unable to compete for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
