The films by Miter and Iñárritu will fight to reach the final nominations, which will be announced on January 24, against films such as: “Corsage” (Austria), “All Quiet on the Western Front” (Germany), “Close” (Belgium), “Decision to Leave” (South Korea), “Joyland” (Pakistan), “Return to Seoul” (Cambodia), “Saint Omer” (France), among others.
The next step after this announcement is the selection of the finalists who will arrive at the Oscars, and who will be announced, along with the rest of the nominees, January 24. The winning films in all categories will be voted for by all academics who have seen the five selected films and will be announced next March 12 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
