The real stars of International Manga Salon It’s them, his disguised assistants. Thanks to their costumes, the comic charactersc come to life in the three pavilions of the Gran Vía site in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), where one of the largest Japanese comics and culture conventions in Europe is held until Sunday.
It is there where thousands of manga followers these days doing what they do best, cosplay. “It’s not just dressing up but to get into the character”, explains one of the assistants. And the more real, the better. “I have chainsaws and I am possessed by the devil”, says another. But it is not only valid with the interpretation, originality also counts.
With more or less dedicated hours, everyone seeks to trace their character. “He’s been doing it since September and I finished it yesterday,” says a young woman. Claudia, who attends the manga appointment for the first time, has cost her three months of work. “I made the tails and I ordered the boots,” she reveals.
Unlike her, whom prefer to invest money on time. “The swords are collector’s: Come in 100 and 300 eurosdepending on the money you want to spend”, explains one of the attendees.
