He talks about it, e.g. in an interview with Fakt.pl, Michał Murawiecki, the owner of a Warsaw flower shop. The florist pointed out that it is the wreaths that most often rest on the graves of relatives in Germany. Poles, on the other hand, are increasingly inspiring this fashion.
However, it is worth knowing that wreaths for the cemetery differ from those with which we decorate our interiors at home. For wreaths prepared for the cemetery, more durable dried plants are used that are resistant to rain and wind.
– said the specialist.
Fashion in cemeteries. These decorations came to Poland from Germany
He explained that thanks to this, they do not lose their color and can keep their shape for several weeks. “They’re really durable, although they can feel fragile,” he added. What colors will we see in cemeteries this year? According to the florist, wreaths with dominant shades of grey, purple and colors that are associated with the golden Polish autumn are most often chosen.
Customers bet on exotic flowers
Carnations are a common choice, they are also durable and tolerate cold well. Customers who care about original decorations choose exotic flowers. Some of them, such as the phenomenal protea, although they come from warm countries, are resistant to lower temperatures
– he mentioned in an interview with Fakt.pl.
“This year only wreaths”
Grave wreaths are also made by florist Agnieszka Kwiatkowska, who runs the Kviatostan Instagram account. “This year I am making one type of decorations. Needle wreaths with live flowers,” she writes.
Vivid reeds and a forest motif
However, this is not the only novelty. This year, we also focus on forest motifs – branches, stumps, cones, conifers, moss, rowan and wild rose. Floristic studios offer wreaths made of wood, wicker and dried flowers.
Many flower shops come with a dose of inspiration. Their offer includes, among others: a heart-shaped tombstone imitating a forest floor with pieces of branches and moss. A hit among this year’s tombstones are also devoid of flowers, and made mostly of coniferous shrubs with the addition of heather, rowan, chestnuts, etc. Many people also decide to make this type of decorations themselves.
Artificial flowers are still popular
Still many people choose artificial flower arrangements – mainly because of their durability. This is a solution often chosen by people who do not have the opportunity to visit the graves of loved ones often.
It is worth noting, however, that of all the above-mentioned options, this one is the least ecological, although practical and quite economical – this type of decoration will survive difficult weather conditions. In addition, the motifs and shapes of artificial flower arrangements are often repeated, so it is difficult to find something that will be unique and one of a kind.
