Mother’s Day: a 300% increase in home deliveries is projected during the campaign

This Sunday, May 8, the Mother’s Day, the most representative event of the first half of the year, according to the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL). For this reason it is that commerce in general is preparing to face the rise in the demand for products, and therefore, increases its income expectations within the framework of this celebration.

After two years of movement and capacity restrictions, this is the first Mother’s Day that is lived within normality after the complexities that the pandemic brought with it. According to the business association (CCL), it is estimated that with this date 90% to 95% of the sales recorded in 2019 will be reached.

Events like these tend to modify the usual behavior of logistics in the country and this year will not be the exception, according to SimpliRoute. According to an analysis carried out by the company, considering the historical data recorded by its clients in Peru, on the Friday before the celebration —that is, May 6— the number of shipments delivered to homes will increase.

On Friday, May 6, it is estimated that 30,000 package deliveries will be made, while for the same date last year, 9,500 visits were reached. “With this we can say that the number of shipments that are being made prior to Mother’s Day has increased by 300% from last year to this one,” says David Morales, Data Analyst in Business Intelligence at SimpliRoute.

The increase in dispatches is expected for the Friday before the celebration and also for the rest of that week. It is estimated that the previous week, the number of deliveries is 7% on average. Similarly, the week after the celebration, that is, between May 9 and 15, an 8% increase in deliveries is expected.

The increase is due to several factors such as the increase in Peruvians’ confidence in digital payment platforms such as e-commerce, the reduction of the digital divide and the penetration of electronic devices could also be factors that influence this rise.

A loyalty opportunity

Likewise, it is important to remind businesses that in order to meet customers’ delivery time expectations and good service, it is essential that they have state-of-the-art technology that offers functionalities in accordance with market demands.

Real-time fleet tracking is also crucial (both for end customers and businesses)in addition to instant communication between the router and the person who will receive it, to prevent the latter from having to wait at home for long hours.

Proper customer service is key for any business to remain profitable. This will allow loyalty and encourage the purchase in the next opportunity. In addition, a satisfied customer will become a promoter of the brand.
