Camisea gas is the option for the country

Eight Peruvian companies already import Bolivian gas to Peru. The cost in the highland country is 12 soles per ball, but in Peru, for transportation it costs S / 30.

In this regard, the specialist in energy issues, Carlos Gordillo Andía, indicates that this cost is not reflected in reality, because in the end we Peruvians continue to buy gas —wherever it comes from— at S/ 65. He pointed out that the situation was being used , because By importing this gas, the profit margin for companies is much higher.

Gordillo Andía explains that Peru will have to import gas from Bolivia. This is because Peruvian reserves are barely 13 TCF while in the highland country, 65 TCF. “Ideally, we try not to matter too soon,” he said.

For the specialist, the government must initiate clear policies for the virtual distribution of gas from the Melchorita (Ica) processing plant. “Part of the gas they process must remain in the domestic market and be distributed in the regions where there are already gas networks, such as Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna. It is possible, but the government seems to have no political will”, he concluded.
