A former director of Iberdrola assures the judge that the parent company managed Villarejo’s invoices

The former director of Control of Corporate Functions of Iberdrola, José Antonio del Olmo, maintains that it functioned as a single corporation even though the Renewables subsidiary billed.

The former director of Control of Corporate Functions of Iberdrola, José Antonio del Olmo, assured this Monday the judge investigating the electricity company’s contracts with CENYT, the business group of José Manuel Villarejo, that the parent company managed the commissioner’s invoices even if they were linked to services contracted by the Renewables subsidiary.

Del Olmo has appeared as an investigator before the head of the Central Court of Instruction Number 6, Manuel García Castellón, after offering to testify because, as he has stated, since he was charged he has been remembering and gathering more information about the invoices that Villarejo issued to Iberdrola for the alleged illicit orders that the parent company would have made to the commissioner since 2004 and for which he would have pocketed more than one million euros.

According to the legal sources consulted by Europa Press, the former ‘controller’ has declared for an hour and a half, answering questions from the judge, the prosecutor and his defense, to explain in detail the billing system.

The former director has indicated that Iberdrola functioned as a single corporation where the parent company also managed the invoices derived from the contracts of the group’s subsidiaries. In this regard, he has commented that one of the most centralized departments was Security, which, as revealed in the judicial investigation, would have been in charge of hiring CENYT.
