The National Federation of the Dairy Industry has warned that milk is piling up in warehouses, due to rising production costs and a transport strike. For their part, the main Basque companies in the sector affirm that they continue to work as usual.

The dairy sector at the state level has warned that in the coming days there could be a lack of products in commercial establishments since, according to the National Federation of the Dairy Industry, the milk is piling up in the warehouses, due to rising production costs and the transport strike. For their part, the main Basque milk-producing companies have stated to Average EITB that they continue to work as usual and that they have had no problems when it comes to distributing the products.

The Basque dairy industry is working to guarantee the presence of its products on the market, and does not expect to have any problems when marketing its dairy products.

It is the case of kaiku, where they have lived a day “without problems”. As explained by the worker Arantxa Errazkin in statements to ETB, both in the CAV and in Navarra they will continue their activity “normally”.

Also in livestock that the company Lacturale has in Etxeberri (Navarra), they have worked normally. They have managed to take the milk to the bottling plant they have in Karrantza, from where the finished product comes out, although have found some picket. Juan Garro, from Lacturale, explains that “we have to give explanations to the pickets, but at the moment we are carrying it out quite normally”.

At the moment, dairy companies they wait for their products to reach the shops. Garro points out that “we can guarantee that there will be no lack of Laturale products in stores.” Errazkin has also stressed that Kaiku is trying to “supply, as far as possible, all supermarkets and customers.”

However, at the state level, the dairy sector has seen its future in dangerafter adding the transport strike to the rise in the cost of production and the shortage of supplies.

From the National Federation of Dairy Industry (FENIL) They warn that, without transportation, the milk has begun to be stored in the silos in a worrying way, and the supplies or products necessary for the production of dairy products do not arrive either. The general director of FENIL, Luis Calabozo, has described this accumulation as “drama”.
