Tomorrow’s price will be 41% cheaper than last Thursday, when it was €369.75/MWh, and will chain seven consecutive days below the €300/MWh barrier.
The average wholesale price of electricity will drop this Thursday by 17.6% regarding its data for today, Wednesday, and it will be in 217.13 euros per megawatt hour (€/MWh), its lowest price since the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine.
According to data from the Iberian Electricity Market Operator (OMIE), tomorrow’s price will be a 41% cheaper than last Thursdaywhen it was €369.75/MWh, and will chain seven consecutive days below the €300/MWh barrier.
Electricity will not reach that figure either, not even in its most expensive time slot, between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., when €295.92/MWh will be paid on average. The cheapest slot will take place between 3:00 and 4:00, then the price will be €184.49/MWh.
Compared to a year ago, the price of electricity will be more than six times higher than the €32.77/MWh that was marked then.
So far this month, the average price stands at €325.37/MWh, approximately 40% higher than in December 2021, the most expensive month in history to date.
However, in the last week, prices have fallen to close to the figures recorded before the conflict, well below their maximum that was pulverized on March 8, when the average price was €544.98/ MWh.
