The Peru imported in the 12 months of 2021 a total of 1,856 million 087,714 kilos of wheat for a CIF value (includes import costs) of US$ 573,053,427 million; according to the portal Agrodata Peru.
This figure reveals an increase of 9.79% from the 516 million 951,798 dollars (2,111 million 990,148 kilos) reached in 2020; and 17.16% compared to the 474 million 732,578 dollars of 2019 (1,872 million 065,080 kilos).
According to Ramón Diez Matallana, an expert in agricultural economics from the Agrarian University, he explained that 90% of the wheat consumed in Peru is imported.
