The president of the Peruvian Association of Receptive and Internal Tourism Operators (Apotur), Enrique Quiñones estimated that, with the opening of the land borders announced by the government, the foreign tourist flow in Peru would increase between 40% and 50% (according to the official figures of foreign tourists in 2019, which was 4,450 million ) at the end of 2022.

He specified that recently, in the second half of this year, there will be a noticeable presence of European tourists, taking into account that, at present, receptive tourism in the Peru It will only be covered by visitors from the region, that is, from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Chile, Ecuador and Brazil, among others.

The head of Apotur estimated that by 2023, receptive tourism would reach 80% and by in 2024, could reach and exceed the figures recorded in 2019.

“Even the number of flights to Peru will be increased and we must work hard so that our country is in the international showcase in order to convince the public that our land is a tourist destination,” he said.
