Modesto Montoya is appointed Minister of the Environment

President Pedro Castillo appointed Modesto Montoya as Minister of the Environment. The nuclear scientist replaces Wilber Dux Supo Quisocala in the portfolio, one of the most controversial appointments in Héctor Valer’s cabinet due to his lack of experience.

Montoya is currently a senior professor at the UNI Faculty of Sciences. He teaches Radiation Physics and Dosimetry, in the Master of Medical Physics and Research Methodology.

The new head of the Ministry of the Environment holds a doctorate in Government and Public Policy from the USMP, a State Doctorate in physical sciences and a Third Cycle Doctorate in nuclear physics and particle physics from the Paris XI University (France). Likewise, he has a degree in physics (1988), a Master’s degree in physics (1974) and a Bachelor’s degree in physics (1972) from UNI.

In addition, during the campaign of the second round of 2021 he was part of the technical team of Peru Libre.
