Las Bambas would suspend operations again on February 20 if blockade continues

The Chinese company MMG reported on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that the Las Bambas mine could again suspend its operations on February 20 if the blockade is not lifted in Ccapacmarca.

According to the document, the community of Ccapacmarca, located in the province of Chumbivilcas, has established a new blockade that involves approximately 100 kilometers of highways leading to the Las Bambas mine.

Therefore, due to the restrictions that transport has been suffering, both incoming and outgoing, Las Bambas has been forced to progressively reduce the operations of the mine, so that, if the blockade continues, production would cease approximately 20 February.

Finally, the company pointed out that they continue to work with the government to comply with the agreements signed on December 30.
