The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Midagri) announced that during 2022 it will install a total of 1,606.2 hectares of pasture and forage planting in the Ancash region. The initiative, which is part of the Rural Agricultural Productive Development Program (Agro Rural), aims to improve livestock activity and the economic income of 4,572 producer families.
“Our duty is to provide all the necessary resources and knowledge to our brother producers to improve their production. We know that livestock activity is one of the fundamental pillars of family farming in the Ancash region, which is why we are focused on meeting the goal set for this 2022″, said Rogelio Huamaní, executive director of Agro Rural.
The intervention will benefit ranchers from 62 districts of 17 Ancashi provinces. The grass seed species received for the 2021-2022 campaign are dactylis (13,560 seeds), English rye grass (13,560 seeds), Italian rye grass (13,560 seeds), White clover (2,712 seeds), centenary barley (18,860 seeds) and grignon barley (6,160 seeds).
Finally, Midagri reported that during the launch of the campaign in the province of Recuay, 10 hectares of associated pastures were installed.
