The European Union, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented the Peruvian government with one of its most important funds for cooperation projects and programs with the Peru: its Multiannual Indicative Program (MIP) 2021-2027 Peru, in which the priority areas of support are established.
In this sense, the The EU will provide financing of 57 million euros in the first phase of the plan that covers the period 2021-2024. For the second phase that covers the period 2025-2027 there will be another donation whose amount will be defined later after an evaluation. This fund will be used to cover projects and actions in three areas identified as priorities:
1. Circular transition and sustainable cities
2. Human development and social inclusion
3. Governance and rule of law
In this regard, Ambassador Gaspar Frontini recalled that the European Union has a long-standing alliance with Peru, for which a great step forward has been achieved in this cooperation, which includes a long-term commitment.
The European Union has now adopted its Multiannual Indicative Program for Peru for 2021-2027. With this strategic document, the EU commits to provide support to the priorities defined in consultation with the authorities of Peru, EU Member States and other key stakeholders, in particular organizations of the civil societyl, including women’s and youth organizations, representatives of the private sector, international agencies and other partners.

The agreed priorities will be implemented in partnership with the Member States of the European Union in a team approach, Team Europe. They are in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement on the Climate change and the European consensus on development.
In the European Union cooperation framework 2021-2027, additional funds will also be granted for cooperation with civil society and regional and global programs. To the date there is an additional 3 million 21,000 euros earmarked to promote human rights and democracy, 7,300,000 euros to strengthen the participation of civil society, which are added to the MIP funds, and 1,073 million euros for regional projects for Latin America, also benefiting Peru.
