Last week, the management proposed a new 30-day ERTE until June for some 4,669 workers.
The management of the Mercedes Benz plant in Vitoria-Gasteiz and the works council meet again this Wednesday to negotiate a new 30-day ERTE for the first half of the year.
Last week, the management informed the staff that it will apply a new ERTE due to the semiconductor supply crisis. The measure will affect more than 4.669 workers, while 269 would be left out of the plan, as reported by the UGT union.
At that meeting, those responsible for the Alava plant explained the current situation of semiconductors and conveyed that, although the group is having supply problems in the different German plants, the beginning of the year in the Vitoria-Gasteiz plant has been “Excellent”, so they have been four consecutive weeks without a supply problem.
Therefore, this week it is produced normally from Monday to Friday at the factory in Alava, but they believe that the week of January 30 may have “problems with some critical part”, so this Wednesday they will confirm the production for the first February days.
