Spill in Ventanilla: Government does not rule out canceling concession in La Pampilla to Repsol

The President of the Council of Ministers, Mirtha Vásquez, informed that they are evaluating the legal actions that they will carry out in the face of the oil spill at the La Pampilla refinery and did not rule out a license suspension for the Repsol company.

“Right now we are analyzing all the legal actions that we can take. We are identifying what the responsibilities may be,” he said.

Through an interview for Latina, the prime minister indicated that the company Repsol gave inaccurate data regarding the number of barrels spilled and the extent of the affected beach.

“The first report that (Repsol) gives is with totally inaccurate data. They said 0.6 barrels of oil had been spilled. There is a tremendous difference, which shows that their data was wrong or false (…) they said that only 2.5 meters of sea had been affected when the next day it was kilometers,” he said.

Likewise, he reported that “it is not true that they were there from the first moment. Here in Peru we are guided by objective responsibility. Someone who does risky work like transporting and unloading fuel is responsible for any harmful event that may arise.
