The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) delegated to the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin) the total competence of attention and qualification of the venting of natural gas (activity that is carried out exceptionally and in a controlled manner in special and emergency situations).
Through Supreme Decree No. 001-2022-MINEM, this regulatory change was approved that speeds up the obtaining and qualification of “inevitable” natural gas vents in cases of contingency, emergency or operations.
In this way, a possible delay in the process is avoided, which guarantees the safety of the operations of the hydrocarbon sector and of the communities that coexist with the activity.

Osinergmin will have a maximum term of May 6, 2022 to issue the necessary provisions and comply with the order made. In addition, it must issue a quarterly report of the venting requests submitted with the details of the supervisions and inspections carried out.
