ONP: proportional pensions go from November

Since November, members of the National Pension System (SNP) who are at least 65 years of age and comply with the proof of at least 10 years of contributions will be able to collect a proportional pension ranging from S / 250 to S / 350, and whose procedure before the Social Security Normalization Office (ONP) is already underway.

Supreme Decree No. 282-2021-EF, published the day before, establishes that the “Special Proportional Retirement Pension Regime with the range of 10 years to less than 15 years of contribution” will be applicable to those who reach 65 years of age onwards and that prove, at least, 120 contribution units, or the equivalent of 10 years of contributions and do not reach 180 contribution units, or the equivalent of 15 years of contributions. There will be 12 annual payments of S / 250 each.

In the case of the proportional pension with 15 to 20 years of contributions, those who are at least 65 years of age and comply with crediting at least 180 units of contributions or the equivalent of 15 years of contributions and do not reach 240 units of contributions , or its equivalent to 20 years of contributions, are entitled to a retirement pension of up to S / 350. Likewise, 12 armed forces will be paid.

This provision goes so far as to amend the traditional requirement to request at least 20 years of contributions for the delivery of a pension. The law had been in force since July 23, but the regulation was lacking. It should be noted that the new guideline does not include the double payment in July and December, as it does with ordinary pensioners.

Fair ONP for all

The Social Security Normalization Office (ONP) foresees that, in a first stage, more than 46,000 affiliates will be able to access a proportional pension, since they have at least 10 years of recognized contributions, in addition to benefiting from medical care in Essalud, a pension for widowhood, orphanhood and ancestry. In the long term, 740,000 will be enrolled with proportional retirement and beneficiary pensions.

Pedro Francke, head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), welcomed the announcement and argued that, with this regulation, the State begins to recognize the years of work and contributions of members during the most important stage of their lives.

“The possibility that ONP affiliates who contributed at least 10 years can have proportional pensions is specified. I encourage affiliates to present their applications so that from November they can see their pensions materialized, as a result of the contributions they made, “he said.

For his part, Walter Borja, head of the ONP, assured that the institution is ready to grant and pay the first pensions in November.

“Good news for our affiliates and affiliates over 65 and with 10 years of contributions. From today (Saturday 16) they can present their applications to access a proportional pension through our portal ”, said the official.

In case ONP affiliates do not have technological means or have any inconvenience to use virtual services, they can be attended in the 11 service centers, 24 alternative service centers located in provinces and districts nationwide, and in 48 MAC Express centers, PIAS and Tambos.
