Dollar closes 2021 at S / 3.9910, while BVL advanced 1.39% annually

The dollar The session ended on Friday, December 31, the last day of the year 2021, rising with a price of S / 3.9910, according to the report of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).

In this way, the currency increased by 0.05% compared to the close of last Thursday 30, when it stood at S / 3.9890.

The purchase in the parallel market was located at S / 3.98 and the sale at S / 4.01. As for the price of the bank dollar, the purchase was quoted at S / 3.91 and the sale at S / 4.09, according to Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP).

During the session, the issuing entity went on the market to sell US $ 5 million at an average exchange rate of S / 3.9920 per dollar to mitigate the volatility of the currency.

It should be noted that compared to the end of 2020, the greenback accumulates a gain of 10.28%, after closing at S / 3,619 in 2020. In 2019, the price of the dollar ended at S / 3.32 and, in 2018, it closed at S / 3,368.

The price at the end of 2021 is in line with the forecasts in August of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and the BCRP, which last September estimated that the dollar would be below the S / 4 threshold before the end of the year 2021.

Meanwhile, the Lima Stock Exchange (BVL) closed the year with an annual advance of 1.39% (S&P General), with gains in 10 sectors and losses in only 5 of them. The highest accumulated gains were recorded in the construction sector (35.51%) and industrial (35.43%); while the most pronounced falls were observed in the financial sector (-12.36%) and electricity (-10.68%).
